Field guide · Outdoor
Decks fail the same way dining rooms do — pullback, walkways, and one grill parked where the path was. Indoor clearance rules apply outside; the sun is the only thing that's free. Inches throughout.
| Piece | W × D | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Patio dining table | 60 × 38 · 72 × 38 | same 36″ pullback as indoors |
| Patio round 48″ | 48 × 48 | seats 4 |
| Outdoor sofa | 78 × 34 | loveseat 58 × 34 |
| Chaise lounge | 28 × 78 | two side by side want 66″ of width |
| Adirondack chair | 31 × 36 | +20″ for the recline and the exit |
| Porch swing | 52–66 × 26 | +30″ swing arc front AND back |
| Patio umbrella 9′ | 108 × 108 | the canopy circle — check the roofline |
| Piece | Footprint | Clearance |
|---|---|---|
| Gas grill | 52–56 × 26 | 36″ working front; keep it off the house wall — check your manual and local code |
| Compact grill | 30 × 26 | same rules, smaller box |
| Fire pit | 36–44 round | 36″ ring of clear space; chairs outside the ring |
| Fire table | 52 × 32 | drinks on it, feet near it — plan seats around it |
Fire clearances are manufacturer + code territory — our halos are planning aids, not permission.
| Piece | Footprint | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Hot tub | 84 × 84 | +24″ service access on the equipment side; a filled tub is a structural question — ask before it's a surprise |
| Trampoline 14′ | 168 × 168 | +36″ ring, clear of fences and branches |
| Playset | 120 × 120 | +72″ landing zones on the action sides |
| Hammock + stand | 110 × 48 | nine feet of commitment to napping |
Yard pieces are where a to-scale plan earns its keep — a 14-foot trampoline plus its safety ring is a 20-foot circle, and most yards find that out after the box arrives.
Upload the site plan or a photo, set the scale, and lay out the patio at true size — swing arcs, fire rings, and all.
